Create a dump of my application when a specific function is started
I'm dealing with an application, which should start en stop elements, and now it seems that my application seems to be starting an element with no reason.
The logging of my application is very limited and because of performance reasons, I can't simply add more information to the logging.
In order to know why my application is starting an element, I'm thinking of requesting a memory dump when element start-up function is called.
I'm using procdump
for collecting memory dumps, so I was thinking of something like:
procdump -ma -filter "Element::Startup" <application>
The idea is that , at every time the function Element::Startup()
is called (when this information is present in the call stack), a memory dump is created.
In the tutorial of procdump
, I don't find this feature. Is there a way to get this done? (If needed, using another dump generator than procdump
)
