What is the first term in this partial sum $t_{n} = sum_{k=0}^{n} 2^k a_{2^k}$?

What is the first term in this partial sum $t_{n} = sum_{k=0}^{n} 2^k a_{2^k}$ ? I found it to be $a_{1}$ (by substituting $ k=0 $ and knowing that 2^0 =1 ) but the book always says that it is $a_{0}$ , could anyone remove this discrepancy for me please?
