How to update a prediction interval based on realized value?
$begingroup$
I'm using a 95% prediction interval for a poisson regression model. For example, my poisson model gives me a number of errors in a certain spatial area and a prediction interval for the number of errors in that area might be [0, 4] based on my poisson model.
I'm interested to see if there is a way to update this interval based on a partial search of that spatial area and a realization of some number of errors. For example, if after searching half of the spatial area, I find only 1 error, is there a way to update the prediction interval of [0, 4] based on some statistical theory or background?
Would appreciate any thoughts. Thank you
