Mixing
what domain name to pass in windows environment to get smb connection in smbj-rpc library
I am using https://github.com/rapid7/smbj-rpc library to get shared smb directories for all computers in a local network. For now, I need to handle the network where each computer has local user accounts (there is no active directory). But, in future, I will also need to make it general:-
a) to identify whether given ip address is in workgroup or domain and
b) get the correct value of domain value to be used for authentication.
So, I am looking for above info and how to get it using Java. Sample snippet below:
final SMBClient smbClient = new SMBClient();
Session session = null;
RPCTransport transport;
try (final Connection smbConnection = smbClient.connect(ip)) {
final AuthenticationContext smbAuthenticationContext = new AuthenticationContext(user,
password.toCharArray(), "what_domain_to_pass\?");
session = smbConnection.authenticate(smbAuthenticationContext);
I have tried standard Java api:
InetAddress inetAddress = InetAddress.getByName(ip);
String hostName = inetAddress.getHostName();
but I am not sure if it is the right way.

Have you tried just passingnullfor the domain? For local user accounts you don't need it.

Have you tried just passingnullfor the domain? For local user accounts you don't need it.
