Big M Simplex Method when we add artificial variables

$$P(x) = 2x_1 + 4x_2 + 4x_3 - 3x_4 $$
$$x_1 + x_2 + x_3 = 4;$$
$$ x_1 + 4x_2 +x_4 = 8; $$
$$x_1 geq 0 $$ $$ x_2 geq 0$$ $$ x_3 geq 0 $$ $$x_4 geq 0$$
$x_3$ and $x_4$ already base variables, do we need to add artificial variables?
