How to run chrome driver in background using selenium with Ruby for Mac OSx?

When using webdriver 3.11 and I click on another app, or use the keyboard, the automated browser always take the top focus
so I cannot do anything else except to see the automation movie.
In old versions of webdriver I did not encounter this problem,
but in web driver3.11 the browser "controls" the desktop.
and I cannot do anything else in another app.
How can I regain control?
