CFG fromString for Questions

Say i generate grammar for a question using pystatparser, and get the productions from it, is it possible to convert it to a CFG using nltk CFG fromString method?
Example input from PyStatParser:
(NP+SBAR (WHNP (WP what)) (S+VP (VBZ is) (NP (DT a) (NN cat))))
After converting to productions:
NP+SBAR -> WHNP S+VP
WHNP -> WP
WP -> 'what'
S+VP -> VBZ NP
VBZ -> 'is'
NP -> DT NN
DT -> 'a'
NN -> 'cat'
If i give production as string input CFG.fromString i get a value error
ValueError: Unable to parse line 1: NP+SBAR -> WHNP S+VP
Expected an Arrow
Can you please help and let me know what mistake im making?
