exceljs - create xlsx file and download not working - node js and express js

0

I am trying to create and download an excel file from the backend. I am using node js and express js. Tried using exceljs to achieve this. But I am not able to make it work. I have tried searching here in SO but could not get any solution yet.

I am using code as below :

   const Excel = require('exceljs'),
tempfile = require('tempfile')
let workbook = new Excel.Workbook();
let worksheet = workbook.addWorksheet('My Sheet'), fileName = 'FileName.xlsx';;

worksheet.columns = [
{ header: 'Id', key: 'id', width: 10 },
{ header: 'Name', key: 'name', width: 32 },
{ header: 'D.O.B.', key: 'dob', width: 10 }
];
let rows = [

{id:6, name: 'Barbara', dob: new Date()}
];
worksheet.addRows(rows);

let tmp = tempfile('.xlsx');
workbook.xlsx.writeFile(tmp).then(function() {
console.log('file is written');
response.download(tmp, function(err){
console.log('---------- error downloading file: ' + err);
});
});

I have tried sendFile instead of download but it is not working. In the browser in the response, I am seeing some weird output. And no download.

enter image description here

Can someone point out what is I am doing wrong here?

EDIT

Also I have tried adding following code but it did not help.

response.setHeader('responseType' , 'arraybuffer');
response.setHeader('Content-Type', 'application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet');
response.setHeader('Content-Disposition', 'attachment; filename=' + fileName);
