Most of you may be aware of the PDFJet library. This is a neat library to render pdf files. Recently i have been facing issues with loading otf/ttf fonts. I'm using this library on Android, here following code works well with the stream font.

AssetFileDescriptor fileDescriptor = context.getAssets()
.openFd("fonts/NotoNaskhArabic-Bold.ttf.stream");
fis = fileDescriptor.createInputStream();
footerFont = new Font(pdf, fis, Font.STREAM);

However when loading ttf / otf instead it fails following exception

2019-01-03 10:38:24.175 22073-22073/ W/System.err: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: incorrect header check
2019-01-03 10:38:24.181 22073-22073/ W/System.err: at java.util.zip.Inflater.inflateBytes(Native Method)
2019-01-03 10:38:24.181 22073-22073/ W/System.err: at java.util.zip.Inflater.inflate(Inflater.java:262)
2019-01-03 10:38:24.181 22073-22073/ W/System.err: at java.util.zip.Inflater.inflate(Inflater.java:283)
2019-01-03 10:38:24.182 22073-22073/ W/System.err: at com.pdfjet.Decompressor.<init>(Decompressor.java:47)
2019-01-03 10:38:24.182 22073-22073/ W/System.err: at com.pdfjet.FastFont.register(FastFont.java:58)
2019-01-03 10:38:24.182 22073-22073/ W/System.err: at com.pdfjet.Font.<init>(Font.java:289)

And yes, i have used following in the gradle to ensure that ttf files were not compressed as pdfjet would have issue with compressed files.

  aaptOptions {
noCompress "ttf"
}

Questions

  1. How to convert a normal ttf/otf font files to stream file ?

  2. Is is a right way to load the ttf and otf font?

I have seen the examples in the pdfjet home page, those examples are out dated and most the Fonts constructor parameters are ignored.
