POST request throwing error with Python Requests
I am trying to scrape a table from this website
https://pipeline.thedeal.com/search/AdvancedDealSearch.dl?preset=bankruptcyfilings#results
but the only way to get the full table is to keep repeatedly clicking show more at the bottom of the table. Instead of doing this for the thousands of entries I used Chrome's dev tools to get POST request that was being sent every time the show more button was pressed.
Google Dev Tools shows the following Request payload:
{"newSearch":true,"searchParams":"{"dealTypes":["Bankruptcy Filing"],"sortBy":"announceDate","sortDirection":"desc"}","page":2}
import requests
import json
url = 'https://pipeline.thedeal.com/search/AdvancedDealSearch.dl'
payload = {"newSearch":'true',"searchParams":"{"dealTypes":["Bankruptcy Filing"],"sortBy":"announceDate","sortDirection":"desc"}","page":'2'}
r = requests.post(url, data = json.dumps(payload))
print(r.text)
However when I try to use the following python code, I keep getting a 415 error. I suspect it has something to do with the formatting of the request. Any ideas on what could be going awry? Thank you
json python-3.x python-requests

. You need to login before you access the url, because the value ofr.url
ishttps://pipeline.thedeal.com/login/index.dl

Thank you, I wonder if i can enter login parameters into the request as well.

you need two request one for post data to login(first), another for crawling data , userequest.Session()
that will make sharing cookies easier.
