Trying to create a onClick function form a different activity with Kotlin

0

I've created a function in a different Kotlin class that I want to use with a button in my layout. The problem is that the layout can't find the function.
It has no problem to find the function in the MainActivity class.

I've added the new class as an activity in the manifest.

<activity android:name=".my_class">
</activity>

I've extended activity

class my_class: Activity()

I've tried to change the .XML text

tools:context=".my_view"

I've added the onCreate function to the class

override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?)
{
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main)

}

but the layout is still not able to find the function in the other class, only when I write it in the MainActivity class.
