Stripping Serial String Python
Is it possible to strip my string and pull out specify characters in python? My incoming data string is something like <STX>000000kg<ETX>
I know I could do ser.read[X:X] but is there a better way of doing it? I have tried multiple methods.
My code:
import time
import serial
import I2C_LCD_driver
import re
mylcd = I2C_LCD_driver.lcd()
print ("Starting Program")
ser = serial.Serial("/dev/ttyUSB0", baudrate=9600,
parity=serial.PARITY_NONE,
stopbits=serial.STOPBITS_ONE,
bytesize=serial.EIGHTBITS
)
time.sleep(0.5)
try:
ser.write("nRr".encode('utf-8'))
print ("data echo mode enabled")
while True:
if ser.inWaiting() > 0:
data = re.sub(b'[0-9]',"", ser.read())
print ("Weight", data.decode())
mylcd.lcd_display_string("Weight", 1)
mylcd.lcd_display_string(data.decode(), 1,7)
except KeyboardInterrupt:
print ("Exiting Program")
