How do I achieve sliding session with SharePoint 2013 application which uses ADFS 3.0 for authentication?
We have SharePoint 2013 farm. The farm contains two web applications. One uses Forms Based Authentication and other one uses ADFS 3.0 authentication. To achieve sliding session in FBA application, we have set following values for the SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig.
$sts = Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig
$sts.UseSessionCookies = $true
$sts.LogonTokenCacheExpirationWindow = (New-TimeSpan -minutes 15)
$sts.FormsTokenLifetime = (New-TimeSpan -minutes 20)
$sts.CookieLifetime = (New-TimeSpan -minutes 20)
$sts.Update()
Iisreset
With these settings, for FBA application, we are able to achieve sliding session in which session slides for another 20 minutes when end user actively keeps interacting with the application during "LogonTokenCacheExpirationWindow ". For this to work this way, we did not have to write any custom HttpModule.
But the same is not working for the ADFS application. For ADFS application user would be redirected to Identity Provider every 20 minutes regardless of user activity on the application. Basically the session remains valid only for 20 minutes and then user would have to get authenticated again.
How can I achieve the same sliding session behavior in ADFS application as FBA application?
c# session sharepoint-2013 sliding adfs3.0
