500 Internal Server Error when trying to access non existing file or directory

0

Sorry for repeat question, but I couldn't find anything that could help me.

So I have modified my .htaccess file to force trailing slash after URL, and remove the .html extension, and while it works fine, I've noticed that when truing to access non-existing files, it triggers 500 500 Internal Server Error page, instead of 404. Any help is appreciated!

Replicating URL: http://profastmovers.com/xxx

.htaccess content:

 RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

#Remove .html extension
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /([^.]+).html [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1/ [NC,L,R]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ $1.html [NC,L]

# Force trailing slash
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.html -f
RewriteRule .*[^/]$ $0/ [L,R=301]
