Assigning “Test suite” for Azure Devops to WebdriverIO JUnit-style XML report file
TL;DR:
Which attribute in my XML report file do I have to set in what manner to obtain a populated Test suite in my Azure Devops build test results?
I have a number of specification files *.spec.js
that are run as UI tests by WebdriverIO and a custom reporter that outputs results to an XML file according to the JUnit scheme (there are slightly differing versions: one linked by the Azure Devops doc, and one on the JUnit Github page).
Roughly, a file lookes like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<testsuites>
<testsuite name="Spec A" timestamp="[timestamp]" time="2.459" tests="6" failures="0" errors="0" skipped="0">
<testcase name="Spec A Section 1 Test a" classname="spec-A.spec.js" time="0.608"/>
...
</testsuite>
<testsuite name="Spec B1" timestamp="[timestamp]" time="3.875" tests="9" failures="0" errors="0" skipped="0">
<testcase name="Spec B1 Section 1 Test a" classname="spec-B.spec.js" time="0.61"/>
...
<testcase name="Spec B1 Section 1 Subsection 1.1 Test a" classname="spec-B.spec.js" time="0.204"/>
...
</testsuite>
<testsuite name="Spec B2" timestamp="[timestamp]" time="1.914" tests="9" failures="0" errors="0" skipped="0">
<testcase name="Spec B2 Section 1 Test a" classname="spec-B.spec.js" time="0.219"/>
...
</testsuite>
</testsuites>
When I publish these test results according to the Azure Devops doc, I am only able to filter/group by Test file, e.g. spec-A.spec.js
but not by Test suite: all tests get grouped under “Unspecified”, even though I would expect the name
attribute of the <testsuite>
to show up there.
