Error when using overloaded output to stream operator <<

0

I wrote the function overload to display text in textEdit as in a stream, but I can’t understated how to use it now. Since functions is compiled but not compiled when used it.

//*.h
class MainWin : public QWidget
{
Q_OBJECT

public:
explicit MainWin(QWidget *parent = nullptr);
~MainWin();

friend MainWin *operator<<(MainWin *out,const QString &str);

private:
void showInConsole(const QString &str);
Ui::MainWin *ui;
};

//*.cpp
MainWin *operator<<(MainWin *out,const QString &str)
{
out.showInConsole(str);
return out;
}

Compilation function is successful.
But when trying to write and use an next code:

//main.cpp
MainWin *mW = new MainWin;
mW << "Some text";//<< QString("Some text") the same

It gives me the error:

CurrentSession.cpp:45: error: invalid operands of types 'MainWin*' and
'const char [4]' to binary 'operator<<'
mW << "str";

               ^

  • use mW << QString("Some text");

  • Or define MainWin* operator<<(MainWin *out, const char* cstr)
