Is styled components/Emotion SSR possible without Node.js backend?

0

I'm looking for help understanding how CSS (Styled components or Emotion) server-side rendering is possible without a node.js backend.

Specifically, we are running React with a PHP backend. Laravel is generating each page (SSR).

We are hoping to use Emotion or styled components with SSR.

On the emotion site, there is a method: 'renderStylesToString' used like:

import { renderStylesToString } from 'emotion-server'

But we can't do this without Node.js.

Also. injecting inline styles wouldn't work well for us with SSR, as each time the page reloads, the whole CSS is re-loaded, as inline styles cannot be cached.

Has anyone experienced this issue previously?

How would you recommend to achieve CSS-in-JS with SSR, without Node.js?

Is it possible to use Emotion or styled components without a Node backend and without inline styles?

Thanks!
