How do you escape a single quote in deploy.cmd password parameter?

0

I have a webdeploy package created by a Visual Studio build in Azure Devops.

I am attempting to deploy this package by utilizing the generated deploy.cmd file

D:Agents...Foo.deploy.cmd /t /m:https://$(Server):8172/MSDeploy.axd /u:*** /p:*** /a:basic "-AllowUntrusted=True" "setParam:name='IIS Web Application Name',value=$(IIS_NAME)" "-enableRule:DoNotDeleteRule"

I receive an error from the generated msdeploy.exe command:

Error: The verb must be specified by using the -verb argument

I've been able to verify that this is due to a special character in the password. The password contains a single quote character.

How do you escape the password or this specific character so that it won't break the generated msdeploy command?

  • And you really really cannot change the password? Because I think that would be the easiest way to do this...
