simple volume of plunger equation

For a homework assignment I have to create a MATLAB script so this is a very small part of it however I believe I have my equation wrong and cant seem to find any online help or am possibly searching for the wrong thing.

The part of the question I need help with is to find the volume of a "candy whistle" inside with regards to the plunger (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI7JNb8KKFs) I know the cylinder volume equation $$ V=pi r^2h $$ I believe I need to substitute the $$ h $$ for the velocity that the stick is moving up or down but I am missing something connecting these two.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Ryan

Don't use run-ons they are bad.
