is using sync-adapters a mandatory for background network tasks?
at timed intervals our app makes HTTP calls in the background and gives notifications based on the responses.
we don't have a database and we don't need to sync anything in the background, all we want to do is to make notifications based on the calls made in the background even when our app is not on the foreground.
should we use sync-adaptors just to give the user the os leveled control sync-adaptors have? for example, I'd imagine battery saver restricts all sync-adaptors running in the device but if we don't use sync-adaptors our background tasks will run normally even if battery saver is turned on. (don't know for sure tho, just to give an example)
I know using sync-adapters is optional but is it a scummy move to not use them for background network tasks?

@cricket_007 yeah services work just fine in our situation but I was more worried if it is the right thing to do to have background network traffic without using sync-adaptors.
