Best way to stay a file in use while process running

0

I'm faced with the problem for updating a file. Actually It's discard an old file and create a new file which has same file name with the old file.

But, rarely the function is failed because the process can't discard an old file due to the permission or other processes.

Due to the complexity and dependencies of the program I need simple and clear method to stay a file in use by my program until the file is discarded.

  • If you can't open a file because someone else is using it, then wait a small time and try again a few times until successful. Maybe the file is in use for only a short interval, such as for a security scan or a backup. Also, rather than discarding the file itself just to create a new one, you can open the existing file and truncate its contents to empty out the file.
