cpanel second webroot (public_html)

0

I'm using a shared hosting account to host a domain and a subdomain websites (example.com and subdomain.example.com).
Not being an expert on webserver I've done what make sense to me:
I have created a folder named "subdomain_public_html" (at the same level as public_html) and pointed the subdomain to that folder.
Everything is working perfectly.

To be honest, it seemed so simple that I'm affraid!!!
Because looking (a lot) around the internet I can only see people and guides talking about just one public_html folder and telling that every addon or subdomain should point to a subfolder under that public_html folder.

I wonder if is this a good practice or if this can bring me any issue (either for security reasons or for any hosting company policy).

Can anyone, please, make this clear?
Many thanks in advance.
