How to use multiple WellKnownObjects with multilayer interface inheritance on the same Remoting URI?
I'm trying to use Remoting in VB.NET using multilayer inherited interfaces.
The two base interfaces are ICallback and ICallTarget. They are both inherited by the interface IClass2Remote.
I have multiple WellKnownServiceTypes registered on the server. On the client, I can create and use a proxy to IClass1Remote just fine. I can also create a proxy to IClass2Remote just fine. However, when trying to call a sub or function or trying to add an event handler to the Callback event defined in the interface IClass2Remote, at runtime I get an error from the server saying:
Attempted to call a method declared on type 'Class2Remote' on an object which exposes 'Class1Remote'.
Since I am registering both interface classes as WellKnownServices on the server, why is this happening? And how do I fix this?
Public Interface ICallTarget
<DispId(1)> Sub Start_CallTarget(Optional ByVal vData As Object = "")
<DispId(2)> Sub Initialize_CallTarget(Optional ByVal vData As Object = "")
<DispId(3)> Sub Terminate_CallTarget()
End Interface
Public Interface ICallBack
<DispId(4)> Event Callback As CallbackEvent
<DispId(5)> Sub Start_CallBack(ByVal sDocNum As String, ByVal sUserId As String, ByVal sComputerName As String)
<DispId(6)> Property PleaseDestroy_CallBack() As Boolean
End Interface
Public Interface IClass2Remote
Inherits ICallback, ICallTarget
<DispId(7)> Sub Destroy()
End Interface
RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType(
GetType(Class1Remote),
"Class1Remote", WellKnownObjectMode.SingleCall)
RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType(
GetType(Class2Remote),
"Class2Remote", WellKnownObjectMode.SingleCall)
